Hello!
Thank you to all who came to our Third Grade Chapel last week. Our kids did a BEAUTIFUL job teaching us all that we are special because God made us!
We are so excited that we will see you this week for our Living Museum presentations! Please come to the MPR on Friday, April 24th, from 10:15 - 11:00 to see and learn about many famous people!
Moms, please mark your calendars for our upcoming Mother's Day Tea, on Wednesday, May 6, from 9:45 to 11:00am! A formal invitation, and more information are forthcoming.
Here is the news for our class this week!
Math - We are wrapping up Unit 9, with a review day on Monday, and assessment on Tuesday. Students will bring home a practice packet in their orange folders on Monday. Toward the end of the week, we will begin Unit 10, Measurement and Data.
Homework
- 9.13 due Monday, April 20
- 10.1 due Friday
- 10.2 due Monday, April 27
Students should continue to review the multiplication facts that they need further practice with. Over the next few weeks, we will continue to review and practice our multiplication facts through 10x10. In addition to completing the review packet as part of their 90 minutes of required math activity, the kiddos can practice with flash cards, fact triangles, and play multiplication math games.
Reading - We will finish up reading about the persons we are studying, and prepare our speeches for our Living Museum on Friday at 10:15.
For homework, students should read about 4 nights a week, for a total of 2 hours per week. The children should log their "just right" reading each day in their reading logs and calculate and log the total number of pages and minutes read at the end of the week. The children may log any reading they do in their biography books, and are also encouraged to log any additional "free reading" they do at home, as well.
Writing - We are going to finish drafting and revising our seed ideas this week, proving our theses by choosing the right words to include in our writing to evoke certain emotions from our readers. We will finish publishing our speeches by the end of the week.
Homework
Prepare for the Living Museum!
Students may prepare a poster board with information about their historical figure for the Living Museum, and bring in any props they feel will enhance their presentations. This is optional. Students are expected to dress up like their person. Please don't feel you need to go out and spend money on a costume. Children may use things from a dress up box, closets, or even paper! - anything they can from home to make their creative costume.
We are looking forward to a great week!
