Hello!
Moms, if you haven't done so already, please don't forget to RSVP to Ms. Wright for the Mother's Day Tea Party ASAP.
Our class will visit the LIA book fair on Thursday. Please make sure that you send in your child's order form if you would like him or her to be able to purchase books.
Here is the news for our class this week.
Math - We will continue unit 10 by exploring weight and volume, capacity, and mean and median.
Homework
- 10.2 and 10.3 due Tuesday
- 10.4 due Wednesday
- 10.5 due Thursday
- 10.6 due Friday
-10.7 due Monday, May 4
Students should continue to review the multiplication facts that they need further practice with. Over the next few weeks, we will continue to review and practice our multiplication facts through 10x10. In addition to completing the review packet as part of their 90 minutes of required math activity, the kiddos can practice with flash cards, fact triangles, and play multiplication math games.
Reading - The kiddos did such a good job stepping into the shoes of their characters for the Living Museum! Their speeches demonstrated an ability to synthesize information, determine importance, and infer meaning. We are so proud of their hard work! On Monday, each character will perform his or her speech for the class, as we wrap up our Biography Unit. Then, we'll enjoy some time for just-right reading.
For homework, students should read about 4 nights a week, for a total of 2 hours per week. The children should log their "just right" reading each day in their reading logs and calculate and log the total number of pages and minutes read at the end of the week. The children are also encouraged to log any additional "free reading" they do at home, as well. Let's finish out the year strong!
Writing - We are going to spend a little more time revising and finishing our persuasive speeches. We will finish publishing by the end of the week, and have our publishing party next week!
As Teacher Appreciation Week is coming up, homework is to write a letter to a previous teacher, showing your appreciation for him or her. You might want to write more than one. : ) Children should write their letter on the paper that will go home in orange folders on Monday.
Have a great week!
