Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day!
Last week, we took some time to talk about the words and works of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We were inspired by what he was able to accomplish in his lifetime, so we wrote down our own dreams for our school, our world, and the future.

Parents, please note that there will be a $1 blue and green NUD tomorrow, Wednesday, Jan. 21. All money will be donated to Lovett's carbon offset program.
Here is the news for our class this week.
Math - We are wrapping up Unit 6 this week, exploring symmetry, congruence, and polyhedrons.
Homework
- 6.8 due Tuesday, Jan. 20
- 6.9 due Wednesday
- 6.10 due Thursday
- 6.11 due Friday
- 6.12 due Monday, Jan. 26
This week students should review their times 3 and times 4 multiplication facts. We will have a quiz next Monday on just these facts. In addition to completing the review packet as part of their 90 minutes of required math activity, the kiddos can practice with flash cards, and play multiplication math games.
Reading - Our reading continues to coincide with social studies this week as we continue to synthesize all we've read with our groups and the whole class. We will also begin to culminate our research into our end of unit project. For homework, students should read about 4 nights a week, for a total of 2 hours per week. The children will continue to bring home "just-right" non-fiction books that they can log as part of their 120 minutes of weekly reading. They should log their "just right" reading each day in their reading logs and calculate and log the total number of pages and minutes read at the end of the week. Students are also encouraged to log any additional "free reading" they do at home, as well.
Writing - We are going to wrap up our non-fiction writing pieces by including non-fiction text features to support our writing, as well as revising, editing, and publishing this week. For homework, students should complete the subject and predicate practice page that will go home in orange folders on Tuesday.
Have a wonderful week!
