I can't believe May is already upon us! Where has the time gone?
Moms, we are looking forward to your visit on Wednesday for our Mother's Day celebration! Hats and gloves are suggested (although not required), for our tea party.
Here is the news for our class this week.
Math
This week we will wrap up unit 10 by exploring calculator memory, frequency distributions, and coordinate grids. We will have a review on Friday, and our end of the unit assessment next Tuesday.
Homework
- 10. 7 due Monday, May 4
- 10.8 due Wednesday
- 10.9 due Thursday
- 10.10 due Friday
Students should continue to review the multiplication facts that they need further practice with. Over the next few weeks, we will continue to review and practice our multiplication facts through 10x10. In addition to completing the review packet as part of their 90 minutes of required math activity, the kiddos can practice with flash cards, fact triangles, and play multiplication math games.
Reading - We will enjoy some time just-right reading this week.
For homework, students should read about 4 nights a week, for a total of 2 hours per week. The children should log their "just right" reading each day in their reading logs and calculate and log the total number of pages and minutes read at the end of the week. The children may log any reading they do in their biography books, and are also encouraged to log any additional "free reading" they do at home, as well. Let's finish up the year strong!
Writing - We will wrap up our unit with a celebration this week. Since our purpose throughout this unit was to write persuasive speeches, for our celebration, everyone will present their speech to the class. For homework, free write! Students should write at least one page in their writer's notebook, and check for correct punctuation and spelling.
We are looking forward to a great week!
